Adding an account#

Nimbo can sync several accounts at once, for example a personal account and a work account, or two users on different servers. To add one, open Settings → General → Account and click ＋ Add account, then sign in as you did the first time (see Getting started).

Every account syncs at the same time, whichever one you are looking at.

Each account has its own folder#

Every account syncs into a folder of its own. When you set up another account, Nimbo will not accept a folder that is the same as, inside, or around a folder another account uses, because each account would then upload the other's files to its own server.

If an older install was set up with two accounts in the same folder, Nimbo holds that folder back and shows a notification until one of the accounts is given a different folder. Nothing is synced into the shared folder in the meantime, so nothing is lost while you sort it out.

Which account am I looking at?#

The panel, the menus and the folder settings show one account at a time, called the shown account. Syncing carries on for all of them regardless.

• In the panel, click ⋯ to see every account with its current status. The shown account has a tick next to it, and clicking another account shows that one instead.
• In Settings → General → Account, the shown account is marked ✓ shown, and clicking Show next to another account switches to it.

Signing out#

Settings → General → Account → Sign out signs out of the shown account. You then get a choice:

• Leave Also remove this device's sync setup & database unticked for a temporary sign-out. Your synced folders are remembered, so signing back in picks up where you left off.
• Tick it for a clean reset. Do this if you intend to delete the local sync folder, because it stops the next sign-in from mistaking the missing files for deletions and removing them from the server.

Your files on this PC are not deleted either way. When you have more than one account, the others are listed with a Remove button, which takes that account off this device and keeps its local files. For the account you are looking at, use Sign out with the box ticked instead.

Leftover Nimbo entries in the Explorer sidebar#

Each synced folder can appear in the Explorer sidebar. Older versions could leave an entry behind after an account was removed, switched or its folder moved, which then pointed at nothing. Nimbo now clears these up each time it starts, so updating and restarting Nimbo is normally all that is needed.

The sidebar entry for your own folder can be turned on or off with Show Nimbo in the Explorer sidebar under Settings → General → System integration.
