Nextcloud apps as desktop apps

The app dock#

The Nimbo panel can show a dock of your favourite Nextcloud apps. Click the ✎ button on the dock to open Pin apps to the dock, then click an app's star to add it to the dock or take it off.

Clicking an app in the dock opens it in a window of its own, with its own icon in the taskbar, rather than as another browser tab. Right-click it in the dock if you would rather open it in your browser.

The dock can be turned off, resized and moved to a different edge of the panel under Settings → Appearance → App dock.

Signing in to an app window#

The first time you open an app window, you log in to your Nextcloud's web page inside it. This is separate from Nimbo's own sign-in, because Nextcloud's web login does not accept the app password Nimbo uses to sync. Tick Remember me (or your server's equivalent) and you will not be asked again.

Pinning to Start or the taskbar#

In Pin apps to the dock, click Start next to an app to add it to the Windows Start menu. It appears in a Nimbo Apps folder under All, and starts in its own window just as it does from the dock. From there you can right-click it and choose Pin to Start or Pin to taskbar. Clicking Start again removes it from the Start menu.

Note: If your Nextcloud is installed under a path (for example https://example.com/nextcloud), app icons may not load in the dock at the moment. This is being looked into, and the apps themselves still open.
